Athletic Trainer

Athletic trainers work to develop trust between themselves and the players, because the players must have confidence in the trainer’s ability to treat injuries. Athletic trainers must have in-depth knowledge of human anatomy and psysiology. All trainers must complete rigorous first-aid training to enable them to respond to emergency situations involving injury.

Q: Where do most athletic trainers work?
A: The majority of athletic trainers work for athletic programs centered at four-year colleges and universities. However, a growing number now serve in high schools or work for private athletic clubs. Professional teams also employ athletic trainers, but the number of positions is limited.
