Newspaper Activities for Brain Freeze

1. Compare the front page of today´s News-Journal and The Hartford Courant. On the Web, go to nieworld.com and click on Today´s Front Pages. Once there, click on the Map View tab at the top of the page. (Be sure your pop-up blocker is temporarily turned off.) Run your pointer over the buttons on the map of Connecticut until the Courant´s front page appears on the right and then, click your mouse. An enlarged version will appear. Click on Take a closer look...to read and print a copy of the front page. Follow the same steps, using the map of Florida, to get and print The News-Journal´s front page. 2. Study some of the opinions on the Ideas page of The News-Journal. Take a poll of your classmates or family to determine how they feel about those issues. Then, write a paragraph expressing your own feelings on one of the issues and send it to nie@nieworld.com for possible publication on the Web.
