Newspaper Activities for Brain Freeze

1. Compare the online version of today´s News-Journal and The Charlotte Observer. On the Web, go to nieworld.com and, on the left sidebar, find NAA (Newspaper Association of America). Under NAA, click on Newspaper sites - National. Once there, click on the map of North Carolina. Scroll down, click on The Charlotte Observer, and print page 1 of the site. Follow the same steps, using the map of Florida, to get to and print page 1 of The News-Journal´s site.

2. In this chapter, Nathan observes that people are both mad and glad about the 1st Amendment. Clip, from various editions of The News-Journal, examples of each and with friends or classmates debate some of the issues.

3. With classmates or family have a race using The News-Journal. Circle the names of the different religions you find in the paper; the one with the longest list wins. Then, using the web, find out which of the religions are practiced by people in the U.S.
