Frequently Asked Questions...

Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Ever since the third grade when my teacher, Mrs. Walsh, complimented a creative writing project of mine.

What's your favorite book?
Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. Written in 1847, it's a classic that has friendship, love and mystery all rolled up into one amazing story. It's not an easy read, but a worthwhile one.

What would you do if you discovered a secret doorway into the underwater world? Would you go through it? Even if it meant transforming into a manatee? And maybe staying one forever?
In Manatee Moon, 14-year Lori Sweeney discovers such a doorway, or portal, at creepy Indian Point Park. Everyone else avoids the place: "It's cursed!" they whisper as they cross to the other side of the street. But Lori loves the scary gardens--it's where her parents always went fishing. It's also where they mysteriously disappeared.

Written to educate readers about the dangers manatees face in the wild, Manatee Moon combines fantasy with scientific fact. The clock is ticking for these gentle creatures as well as for Lori Sweeney.
