— Newspaper Activities —

1. In this chapter, the kids discuss some ways people have used and misused animals. Create a bulletin board, poster or scrapbook of clippings from your newspaper that illustrate how our society uses animals and animal products. Develop a survey to find out how classmates/friends/family feel about using animals these ways. Sunshine State Standard SC.G.1.2

2. Just as Operation Migration helped the cranes, there are many other organizations that champion animal causes and fight for animal rights. Using your newspaper and other resources, identify individuals and groups who are working to help animals. Create a poster or other visual to publicize their work and send it to nie@nieworld.com for possible publication on the Web. Sunshine State Standard SC.H.3.2
