— Newspaper Activities —1. In this chapter, the kids learn more about ways that some wild animals help people. From your newspaper, clip articles about how animals help people and design a poster to tell others what you have learned. Ask permission to post it in your Media Center, library or a local business so that you, like the kids in the story, can inform others about what you have learned. (Sunshine State Standard SC.G.1.2) 2. At the end of this chapter, Katie becomes sad as she remembers losing her family. Skim your newspaper for articles about people dealing with the loss of loved ones. Make a list of the ways that they deal with the sadness, anger, hurt and frustration. Divide their actions into positive and negative and keep the list for a time when you have to deal with such loss. (Sunshine State Standard HE.A.1.2)
