Newspaper Activities for Chapter 3
Chapter Three: Zack and Ally Hit the Stage During this Quest, you will join the Trackers as they learn about many interesting people and places related to art, writing and drama. To help you understand more, create a classroom bulletin board where, as you progress through the story, you can post and then discuss related clippings from The News-Journal and The Hideaway Times section of the Florida Quest web site. Look for tie-ins to:
1. Zack, like many other kids, thinks he would like to become an actor. Use the TV section of The News-Journal to identify programs that are likely to have young people in starring roles. Then, watch several with the goal of critiquing their acting skills. Make a list of the things you like and dislike about their work. Compare your opinions with those of your classmates. 2. Skim the classified section of The News-Journal for several days and identify any jobs related to theater, TV or movies. Make a chart of your findings and discuss career possibilities with friends and family. 3. With friends or classmates, experiment with improvisation by acting out various scenes depicted by comic strips from The News-Journal. For more fun, create a competition and have classmates try to guess the comic strip you are portraying. |
