Peggy Ann liked to pick flowers. The wild blue flax is one of many wildflowers that can be found blooming in the open grassy areas of Mount Rushmore.

According to Womenfolk.com, it was difficult to do fine stitching on quilts in poor light so most quilting was done in the daylight.

The ponderosa pine has a bark that smells sweet, kind of like vanilla or butterscotch. This is one of the trees that Peggy Ann enjoyed smelling.

Not only did the Jansen´s stay in a cabin, but many pioneers grew up in cabins including some of the United States´ former presidents.
