The 18th Annual Commissioner's Business Recognition Awards were held at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando on April 14, 2005.

"The Daytona Beach News-Journal has been a vital partner to all Volusia County Schools for the past ten years. Recently their Newspaper in Education program, managed by Nancy Govoni, has partnered with the district's Career Connection Consotrium in the development of reading, science and math content for the lesson plans of CTE/FCAT Projects. The News-Journal as worked with the teachers for the past two years, providing unending resource links through their website, saving the district funds otherwise used to purchase materials. They have constantly monitored news articles for safe student access, created a website for resources, and a CD of all materials, and have provided county and state training in the use of these materials."
