Read with the ProsOn September 17 more than 60 community volunteers read to students in Volusia County Schools as part of the “Read with the Pros” celebration sponsored by the Volusia Literacy Council. This event was supported by both the Volusia County Reading Council (VCRC) and The News-Journal´s Newspaper in Education (NIE) Program.  | Celebrity Reader Visits Bonner Elementary Second grade students in Ms. Martin and Ms. Colucci´s classes at Bonner Elementary were spellbound by the tale of a flying ship, a czar, a princess, and a Russian palace as Julia Truilo of Seaside Music Theater read them the fairy tale “The Fool of the World and the Flying Ship” on Friday, September 17. Mrs. Truilo was a guest reader at Bonner participating in Read with the Pros sponsored by the Volusia Literacy Council. Using her experience as an actress and performer, she explained how imagination helps stories become plays. |
