The Hospital Waiting Room Book Nook Project
A Community Service Activity of the
Volusia County Reading Council

The purpose of the project is to stock and maintain, in the waiting rooms of the major hospitals in Volusia County, a selection of books for both children and adults. Click here to see a typical Book Nook set up.

Each VCRC member will select a hospital and sign up for one week during the next calendar year. By signing up, the member agrees to be responsible for filling the waiting room Book Nook with a set of books at the beginning of that week. If the obligation cannot be met, the member should arrange for a substitute (another VCRC member, family or friend). As a last resort, contact the VCRC liaison for the selected hospital. (See the list below.)

The books may be new or gently used. Print optional book plates to be placed in the books before delivery to the hospital: Book Plates 1 x 2 or Book Plates 2 x 4

The following board members will serve as liaisons with the hospitals. Please contact them if:
· The Book Nook box or tent card is missing.
· You have any questions or concerns.
