1. In this chapter, readers learn that the Wright Brothers began creating things when they were still in elementary school. Over the next weeks, clip from The News-Journal, articles about today´s young people who are being creative. Save the clippings in a scrapbook or on a bulletin board and use them for inspiration. If possible, write about something you have created and send your story to www.nieworld.com for possible publication on the web.

2. As you read the other chapters in this serial story, clip from The News-Journal, photos or articles about airplanes in the news. With friends, family or classmates discuss why the stories are newsworthy.

ON THE WEB: The Wright Brothers -- On April 16, 1867, Milton and Susan Wright welcomed their third child into their household near Millville, Indiana. The newest member of the family, Wilbur, had two older brothers to contend with: Reuchlin, 6, and Lorin, 4. Little did Susan Wright know that she had given birth to the first half of one of the world´s most famous inventive partnerships.
