1. Katherine knew that her brothers considered quarrelling a way to challenge each other to solve problems. From The News-Journal, clip articles about individuals or groups of people arguing. Identify the stories that seem to involving solving problems and those where there seems to be no problem-solving going on. With friends and/or family discuss both kinds of situations and make a list of ways to resolve problems without conflict. Try out some of those strategies the next time you must solve a problem.

2. The author of this story also wrote, of the brothers, that “their drive, their stubbornness, and their genius as engineers” had helped them solve problems. Clip examples of these traits from articles or comics found in The News-Journal.
