Especially for Students

Welcome to the Student Section of NIE World

The cyberspace home of the Newspaper in Education (NIE) Program of The News-Journal,
the daily newspaper serving Volusia and Flagler counties in Florida.
The office is just across the river from"The World's Most Famous Beach" and just a few blocks north of the race track where the Daytona 500 and other motor sporting events are run.

One aim of our program is to help students better understand themselves, their community
and the world. Grab your mouse and see what's written in our stars for you.

HOT ISSUES and COOL IDEAS

Summer fun: Head for a museum
For some young people, summer is a time to just relax and do nothing, but for others it's a time to experiment, explore and experience a new and different slice of life. If you are looking for something new to do this summer—or anytime at all—consider making the most of museums by sampling some in your own community. You might be surprised at the variety of museums almost under your nose!
