| MOVIE REVIEWS |
|
Students at Mainland High School are faithfully going back to the movie theaters to see the box office hit, “Disturbia,” for a second and third time.
This thriller is about a teenager named Kale Brecht, played by Shia LaBeouf, who becomes deeply troubled after his father dies. Sentenced to house arrest for three months after an altercation with a teacher, Kale spends long, boring days at home until he becomes interested in his neighbor, Mr. Turner, played by David Morse. Kale and his friends believe Turner is a murderer, the only problem is how to prove it.
This film is rated PG-13 but is filled with action-packed suspense that will make anyone scream.
Students from Flagler Palm Coast are racing to theaters to check out Adam Brody and Meg Ryan in the film, “In The Land of Women.” Brody plays a brokenhearted screenwriter (Carter Webb) from Los Angeles, lost in his own world.
Convinced that he needs to get away, Carter heads to Michigan to care for his estranged grandmother, an aging and ailing woman. He quickly becomes exasperated with grandma and spills his heart out to his neighbor while fraternizing with her teenaged daughter at night. In the end, Carter manages to help all three women find happiness.
This film is a chick flick with a lame ending. But it does have a sense of humor and at least you get to look at the handsome Adam Brody for an hour and a half. It was also good to see Meg Ryan back on screen.
Mainland students were shocked at the film “Fracture.” This crime drama is about a man who thinks up the perfect murder.
Ted Crawford, played by Anthony Hopkins, shoots his wife one night, knowing that a certain policeman would come. He confesses that he had tried to kill her, so they gave this “easy” case to district attorney Willy Beachum, played by Ryan Gosling. Even though he confessed, no evidence could be found.
The fact that that particular policeman was having an affair with Ted’s wife cancelled his confession and he was set free. Willy was determined to prove him guilty of attempted murder. The wife is eventually murdered but you’ll have to see the movie to find out how.
This R rated movie has plot twists that stun everyone. |
