Saving the Key Deer

The name of my endangered animal is the Key Deer. The Key Deer population is between 600-700 deer. The Key Deer population dropped to a mere 27 deer in 1957, but their numbers have since bounced back to almost 800.

The way I plan to save this animal is to tell people to stop shooting at them and killing them. People need to stop feeding the Key Deer, because when you feed them on the side of the road at your car, they get used to it. Then they start going up to random cars which hit the deer. Maybe we can create a law to make it illegal to kill Key Deer or feed them along the roadways. Approximately 70% of Key Deer fatalities are a result of being struck by passing cars.

Another way to save the Key Deer is to stop cutting down trees. We’re destroying their habitat. So maybe we should try to stop tearing down their habitats so they don’t need to wander far for their food or shelter. We need to pass laws protecting the deer and we need to provide severe penalties for breaking those laws. This is how we can save the Key Deer.
