The Plight of the Manatee

Manatees have been on the minds of the students in Mrs. Dario´s class at Spruce Creek Elementary School. The first graders were so moved that they wrote letters after reading a News-Journal article on the plight of manatees caught in the Kirkpatrick Dam.

I am sad because they can't get out of the dam

I am sad because the manatee are getting hurt in the lockes

I'm sad because they are dieing in the lockes

I am sad because they are getting squished

I feel sad because the manatee can't get past the Dam

I am sad because they could get cout in the lock

I'm sad about the mantees getting squished

I'm sad because the manatees can't go into the springs

I'm sad because manatees are dieing in the lockes

I feel sad because the manatess can't go past the dam

I am sad because the manatees are getting hurt in the gate and the lock

I am sad because they get caught in the dam and they don't like it very much

I want you to please break down the wall of the dam

I am sad because the manatees can't get by

I am sad because the manatees are getting hurt

I am sad because the manatees are getting hurt in the locks
