The HolocaustTask: Read this newspaper of Holocaust articles and complete the following assignments. Arrange assignments in a booklet with a cover page. We will discuss the project and your process each day, so that you can clarify any questions you have. However, you will complete this project at home. Grading Criteria: 100 Points - 05 points for cover page; 10 points for pages 1-6; 10 points for creativity, neatness, and effort; 20 points for returning the newspaper with the assignment; 05 points for final page. Booklet Pages Cover Page: Read page 3 of the newspaper, The "Ladder of Prejudice". Draw an illustration of this ladder of prejudice on the front cover for your booklet. Include the important information from the reading. Include the word Holocaust on the cover page. Page 1: Read pages 4-5, The Stage is Set. Create a page of biographical information on Adolf Hitler. Organize your information creatively. Page 2: Read pages 6-7, "The Reign of Terror Begins". Write a diary entry as if you are a 16 year old Jewish teenager living in Germany. Describe your feelings about how your life is beginning to change. What are your hopes and concerns for the future? Page 3: Read pages 8-9, The "Final Solution". Complete activity #4. Page 4: Read pages 10-11, "A Story to Tell". Write a one page reaction paper to these stories. How can this information help you to become a better human being? Page 5: Read pages 14-17, "Escaping the Nightmare". Complete activity #1. Page 6: Read pages 18-19, "The Aftermath". Complete activity #1. The additional research can be found in the video "The Nuremberg Trials" that you will watch in class. Final Page: Reaction to this assignment: What did you learn from working with this information? Do you feel that the Holocaust could happen again today? Are situations like this occurring in other places around the world?
