Add as many rows as you need to fill in the project. Directions: 1. Using a newspaper, locate a newsworthy event which has taken place no more than two weeks prior to the next due date on on the turn-in schedule. 2. Cut out the entire article and picture(s). 3. Use notebook paper to give the following information about your event: Name and date of newspaper; Headline of article; Who? What? Where? When? Why or How? Reaction statement: Write a paragraph explaining your thoughts or opinion of the event. Do not give a summary of the event! 4. Staple the entire article and picture(s) to the back of your notebook paper. 5. Be prepared to present your current event to the class without reading from your notes or the article. Each student will be required to present an event at some point during the school year. Avoid: Any story which is excessively violent or profane and this inappropriate for the classroom. Sport stories which report the results of a game, tournament, or match. Birth/Death announcements. Daily weather reports. Movie/book/event reviews or descriptions. Editorials. Advice columns.
