On The Road To FCAT Gold

We are "On the Road to FCAT Gold", and we are tying in a class OLYMPIC project with it! On our back bulletin board, we have two charts and lots of motivational phrases and pictures! We are tracking our class "medals" that we earn for various achievements along with charting the TEAM USA´s medals that we win during the Winter Games. There will be a daily reporter who will be in charge of reading the paper and reporting back to the class a list of the medal winners and their events.

We are also working towards a class goal of 200 medals before FCAT! Students will be given weekly Olympic challenge problems to solve and various language arts tasks that relate to both FCAT and the Olympics. They can earn medals for properly solving their tasks. We hope to reward ourselves with a class celebration that will be in the true Olympian spirit (a field day, class weekend outing to ice skate, bowl, or roller skate, etc...)!

The parents are very excited and want to support us all the way! Each child will also be researching an Olympian or an event. Students will create art work, write reports, and make class presentations after FCAT has "left the building"...The newspaper was the missile that launched such an endeavor, and we are taking it to the limit! The class is anxious and geared up!
