Bright Ideas Lesson Plans
A Potpourri of ActivitiesIn the past, in my special needs pre-kindergarten class, I would take an interesting portion of the newspaper page and blow it up by at least 50%. We would then use a highlighter to find the letter of the week. Students were able to take turns highlighting the letters on the paper. They loved highlighting the letters. We also would have a scavenger hunt throughout the paper for pictures. The kids get excited when they find whatever is called out. (Example: Find a picture of a man with a mustache...and then discuss who it is.) We would then use the newspaper for arts and crafts...making hats, boats, etc. They really enjoyed the hands-on activities. Victoria Kee Pre-K Palm Terrace Elementary School
