My 8th grade social studies classes completed the "Keys to the City" activity presented by NIE. The project was implemented during our study "Exploration of the New World."

The students explored our community choosing from Palm Coast to the surrounding areas including Daytona and St. Augustine. Brochures were made about the area that students selected. The brochure included interesting places to visit including historical and tourist attractions, outstanding culinary sites and shopping favorites. The students had fun going out visiting these places gathering information flyers, menus, and pictures that can be included in the brochures.

Project grades were earned for the effort when students presented their brochures to the class. The very best ones were "published" in the corridor outside the classroom for all to see.
