On Monday mornings my students must select an article from the paper, minimum of 5 paragraphs. They cut out the article and glue it to paper. Then they document the date, page number and section the article was from. Finally, they write a one-paragraph summary. They keep these in their writing and we share our summaries at the end of the day, Monday through Friday.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES: Graph weekly results of how many articles the students from each section of the paper. Count the number of paragraphs in each article, then in each group, and finally in the entire class.
