News Search SafariAfter receiving the News-Journal on Monday, I read the paper and select articles that reflect current events, science, social studies and math information. I then make up a news search questionnaire which includes the section and page number where the information can be found. With the assistance of our classroom aide, Ms. Kathy, the students go in search of the information to complete the news search. They enjoy the search and the discussions about the articles. They are given the time to read the other articles. We pull the Kids Page to be used at another time- usually on Thusday. The newspapers are sent home for the students to share with their families. Our students look forward to the news search and we feel they are gaining awareness of the world around them as well as the information and reinforcement for reading, math, science and social studies.
