Teacher will tell the students it is their turn to look for compound words in the paper and do the same. B. Developmental Procedures: Students will skim the newspaper for compound words. They will choose 5 that they like the most. They will break the compound into the two words that make it up. They will draw a picture of the two words and color them. Questions to ask: How did you know it was a compound? How can you use the newspaper to search for compounds? How can a picture help to determine what a word is? C. Closure: Teacher will have each student share with the class the compound words they chose and show the pictures they have drawn to accompany the word. VI. LESSON EVALUATION: Teacher would evaluate the students by walking around to make sure they understand the concept of a compound word. If not, Teacher will stop and teach a mini-lesson. If the students are getting the concept down, Teacher will evaluate based on what they share in class and placing a checkmark for completing the assignment.
