April 23-29This week´s standards:Students understand the position and motion of objects. (Physical Science) Students understand changes in the Earth and sky. (Earth and Space Science) Activities:1. Draw a picture of yourself exploring another planet. Write a story about your visit. 2. Collect words about space, the sky and the planets from newspaper headlines and ads. Make a collage of your words. Now use five of your words in a story. 3. Pretend you are helping to design an exploration trip to another planet. Make a list of at least five questions you would like to have answered about the trip. Then ask a friend to suggest questions he or she would like to have answered. Compare your questions. 4. Identify the planets, moons or rings that (a) may have oceans beneath their surface, (b) have ice, (c) have rivers, but rivers not made of water, and (d) have evidence that there was once water on the surface of the planet. 5. Use resource books and the Internet to learn more about one of the planets featured in today´s Mini Page. Use these questions to guide your research: When was the planet discovered? How large is it? What is it made of? How have scientists learned about the chemical/mineral makeup of the planet? Dr. Sherrye D. Garrett
